Ovarian cysts

Almost all female guinea pigs that haven't been spayed will develop ovarian cysts by the age of 3-4 years. Thankfully, most of these cysts are non-functional and only pose a problem if they grow very large. However, a minority (25%) are functional cysts, which produce hormones leading to hair loss, skin alterations, and uterine changes that may become cancerous.
