Let’s examine their diet- Part 2 Grass

Grass

Guinea pigs can eat grass safely, but certain precautions are necessary. Ensure that the grass is free from pesticides, chemicals, or urine from animals such as cats or dogs. If your guinea pigs are new to eating grass, start with a small amount and gradually increase it so their digestive system can adjust.

Grass clippings from your lawn are not safe for guinea pigs. In addition to potentially containing chemicals, grass clippings ferment more quickly than fresh lawn grass, which can cause bloating and other digestive problems. Only feed them grass that has been hand-pulled or hand-cut.
