What to do if Your Pet Licks a Toad Part 1

As warmer weather and rain arrive, veterinary clinics witness an increase in cane toad victims. Our curious pets, particularly terrier-type dog breeds and sometimes cats, find the toads' intriguing hop across the yard irresistible to chase. If they get too close, they might come into contact with the toad's toxin. Unfortunately, the cane toad toxin, known as bufotoxin, located in the glands behind the eyes on the neck, can have devastating effects. If your dog encounters these dreaded creatures, follow the steps in our continued blogs on what to do if your dog licks a cane toad.
